Micron outs 24GB and 48GB DDR5 modules but your games don’t care-

Is 48GB of system memory the next gold standard for PC gaming? It’s at least physically possible now that Micron has launched new DDR5 DIMMs in 24GB and 48GB capacities.

Based on Micron’s latest CL46 1.1V DDR5, the new formats are available running at 5200MT/s and 5600MT/s. They also support AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles for smooth and easy compatibility with AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series and Intel’s 12th and 13th generation Core processors (via Tom’s Hardware).

For PC gaming, the new capacities are not immediately compelling. While 24GB sounds like an interesting mid-point between 16GB and 32GB, you’ll need two of the 24GB sticks to operate in optimal dual-channel memory mode. And anything beyond 32GB is pretty much overkill for games. So, one stick of 24G…

Survival base-builder Nightingale’s offline mode has arrived—along with celebrities like Joan of Arc and Edgar Allan Poe-

Survival game Nightingale just delivered a feature players have been asking for since the game debuted in early access in February: offline mode. As of today, solo survival fans will no longer be at the whims of servers in order to jump into the fae realms of the gaslamp fantasy base-builder.

Offline mode isn’t the only new feature in Nightingale version 0.3.0. Players will also now be able to build from storage, another highly requested feature that means resources can be used for construction even if they’re not in your inventory. It’s proximity-based and togglable, too, meaning you can earmark containers not to be used in construction if you’re saving resources for a different purpose or don’t want to accidentally use a friend’s stash while building.

There are new monster…

E3 may be dead but the Summer Game Fest is alive and well, and will return to action for 2024 on June 7 with another live-and-livestreamed show happening at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.

Summer Game Fest 2024 will be a “cross-platform live showcase of game announcements, trailers and more.” Details on who will be there and what they’ll be showing off haven’t been revealed—have to have some surprises, after all—but the show will run for two hours and, as event founder and host Geoff Keighley put it, serve up a “showcase of what’s next for videogames.”

The rise of Summer Game Fest has been quite a thing to see. For nearly 30 years, E3—the Electronic Entertainment Expo—was the preeminent videogame showcase in North America, the one everyone wanted …

The Assassin’s Creed game about ninjas in feudal Japan is called Assassin’s Creed Shadows, full reveal coming on Wednesday-

The Assassin’s Creed game we’ve known for the last year-and-a-half as Codename Red finally has a proper title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it’s going to be fully revealed in just a couple days, on May 15.

Codename Red was revealed in September 2022 alongside two other unnamed Assassin’s Creed games: Hexe, which has a very overt supernatural vibe but is otherwise entirely undefined, and Jade, a mobile game set in China in 215 BC.

Red, meanwhile, is set in feudal Japan, a shift in locale that had associate editor Ted Litchfield immediately excited, to the point that he was basically establishing a full headcanon based entirely on a 10-second teaser.

“Cast the shinobi clans of Iga province as some manner of Assassin Order franchisee, while the world famous warrior…
